This page will walk you through the configuration options available in version 8 of Cookie Control, and allow you to customise it for your needs.
To begin, just select from the right side the edition that best suits your website's needs. All of them will offer you GDPR compliance and the best possible user experience for your website's visitors.
The Pro editions will additionally offer you the ability to rebrand the widget to match your website's look and feel, localisation, geolocation and prioritised support.
Provides all of the core functionality of Cookie Control, and is of course GDPR compliant. You can use it to test Cookie Control, or if you don't require any of its pro features.
Includes all of the pro features for use on a single website, priority support and updates during your subscription.
Offers all of the pro features for use on ten websites, priority support and updates during your subscription.
In order to offer you the best possible user experience, we need some basic information from you. You can rest assured that we will not share any of this with anyone else.
A password is necessary so that you will be able to login later and reconfigure your widget. For example you might want to change the domain you will be using it on at some point.
Please specify the domain you will use Cookie Control on. Please note that this is the only domain it will work on.
Pro users will have the ability to use Cookie Control on subdomains too. This means that if your domain is for example mydomain.com, you will be able to test the widget on a subdomain like test.mydomain.com, before using it on your live website. This feature can also be helpful if you serve your website from different domains, for example for localisation purposes.
Please note, that if you are purchasing a Multisite license, it is not necessary to specify all of your domains upfront. You can always add more or change the ones you have already specified later.
GDPR requires consent to be given explicitly for all categories of cookies of your website. For instance a user might consent to the use of analytics cookies but not marketing ones, in case you use both.
Cookie Control offers you the means to achieve this, but you need to specify the categories of cookies your website uses. You will then be able to customise what happens when a user consents to a certain category. You could for example run Google Analytics only after the user consents to the "Analytics" category.
You can choose the position on your pages where the widget will appear, and select one of the two predefined themes. Both are accessible according to the WCAG2AA standard.
Pro users will have the option to completely customise the look and feel of the widget to match the one of their site.
This will include changing the font colours and sizes, the background and button colours and icons, and also removing the "About this tool" link.
Pro users can choose not to show the widget in countries outside the EU. They can either hide it completely to users from all non-EU countries, or only to users from specific countries.
Additionally, they can localise the texts of the widget according to the user's language settings.
That's all you need to get started. After clicking on "Sign up and download" you will receive your license API key over email and you will be redirected to a page where you can collect your code snippet.
You can use the latter as a starting point to tailor the widget to completely match your website's needs.
You will also find more information on how to further configure the widget and how to find support, or where to find one of our ready to use plugins for some of the most popular Content Management Systems.
