Registers of Scotland (RoS) needed to update its website to offer the public personalised information and to represent a modernised organisation in touch with its audience.
We took the unusual step of developing a RoS intranet first, thereby defining the distinct branding and approach we would employ for the public facing site. We carried out extensive user research to indentify audience needs and to reassign information between their two distinct user groups.
We were then able to create a public-facing Web presence with a clear, concise message for both audiences: brand and general information for the public, and eServices and business news for property professionals. An innovative user experience was developed enabling users to interact with a map in order to access information.
The homepage required a clean, crisp, yet approachable treatment. Its bold message uses a slider feature to minimise the need to click away built with the latest fully accessible technology.
Chris Dempsey, Corporate Communications and Planning Director at RoS said of the final sites “We challenged CIVIC to take our existing rather dull and pedestrian sites and turn them into dynamic and exciting user interfaces. They have more than delivered.”
