You are here: Home Childrens Panel
The Children's Panel is unique to Scotland. It resolves children’s issues informally in lay hearings. Issues can relate to either child welfare and protection or criminal offences. Our challenge was to produce a website to support a major campaign to encourage people to register to become panel members.
We took an analytical approach to the project, carefully investigating the organisation's user statistics in order to understand weaknesses, opportunities, and popular content on the site.
In partnership with the appointed advertising agency we were then able to develop a site architecture which serves both user needs and marketing objectives. We developed a powerful and direct information site, spacious in its design and versatile in its framework.
The website employs an interactive questionnaire to help potential members decide if they "fit the bill". It uses example case studies of children who have been helped in the past to underpin the message that volunteers really can make a dramatic impact on childrens' lives. Video interviews with panel members explain how rewarding being a panel member can be from those with first-hand experience.
Data from a simple "register your interest" form goes to an intermediary centre which processes the potential members' details for Children's Panel regional offices.
Site statistics show a massive increase of 340% in the update of people registering their interest in comparison to the previous year with 93,000 site visits.
